Fake wood
After looking at the ring in some serious detail and conversing with wood science and dendrology experts, as well as my own observations with both the naked eye and several magnifying glasses, I can tell you that the "maple wood" is not wood at all. Instead it is a piece of paper with a low graphic resolution print job. However, if the tungsten is real I did end up getting a pretty good deal on it, since in the jewelry stores it is valued at over $100 and I bought it for $50. In conclusion the products are not what they claim to be, but if you are looking for something that will work for a while and you can't tell the difference between cheep paper with a resin coat over it and wood then I guess you found what you are looking for.
